The GT2 has always occupied the top performance rung on the Porsche 911 lineup of road cars. Starting with the already-potent 911 Turbo, the metamorphosis into a GT2 is achieved through the four-fold approach of massive weight reduction, increased horsepower, enhanced aerodynamics and suspension modification. The removal of 350 pounds of overall vehicle weight is attributed to the conversion from all-wheel drive to that of rear-wheel drive, installation of carbon-ceramic brakes and a lightweight GT2-specific titanium muffler. The turbocharger units on the engine receive larger compressor wheels and optimized flow turbines combined with variable-vane geometry and a larger intake manifold to raise the power output to 530 HP—an additional 50 HP over the standard Turbo of 2008 and capable of catapulting the GT2 to a top speed of 204 MPH. The suspension settings are calibrated in accordance with GT3 specification, and the ride height is lowered by almost 1-inch. The aerodynamic package sports a Gurney-flap rear decklid combined with a rear spoiler, GT2-exclusive front fascia with an escape vent for extracting high-pressure frontal air, and aero rocker panels. The net result is a rocket ship ride experience that requires the utmost concentration and skill from its driver. Although it does come equipped with driver-intervention features such as Porsche Stability Management and Porsche Active Suspension Management, the GT2 is a visceral machine that evokes both fear and respect. It is for these reasons that the GT2 occupies a narrow niche and limited production in the Porsche world with fewer than 200 examples allocated for the American market in the 2008 model year. This 911 GT2 is presented in Meteor Gray Metallic with a black leather interior and optioned with the Carbon Fiber Interior Package, Sport seats, navigation and a Bose sound system.
